Hardcore History

Exploring the interwebz yesterday I found these three posters that this girl Jenny Burrows and her friend Matt Kappler did. The ones I have on here are actually the "bad" ones because they are not allowed to say Smithsonian on them since it wasn't done for the museum but for a college project. I love the comparisons and it's just a unique idea. I wish the Smithsonian would have went the opposite way and hired them to do more but instead they wanted them to take the posters off. Luckily they just took the Smithsonian name off of them and just have Museums instead. I think it loses a little bit of the epicness but they are still amazing! More of Jenny's work.

Dezign with a Z

Saw a facebook friend "Like" this page and the name caught my attention. Did a little exploring and fell in love with it. I can't wait to get my own house and to spend all my money on this site! Check it out! I'm in love with the reusable wall paper. http://www.dezignwithaz.com/

Oh pictures, where art thou?

Back in December there was an article regarding a New Yorker who found a roll of film in Prospect Park and developed the film. He made a video with the pictures to try to find the owner. Recently the owner of the film claimed their missing pictures. I wish every story like this had a happy ending. Well apparently there is a site to sort of make those happy endings more common. The site is called http://www.ifoundyourcamera.net/. People who find cameras put a few pictures up on the site and hopefully the person who lost it or a friend or family can look at the pictures and claim them. There have been so many success stories. I'm hoping for my own personal success story when I lost my camera (well my sister's camera) at Finnigan's Wake. So if anyone happens to find pictures of about 7 gorgeous girls at a graduation party and some crazy pictures at Finnigan's wake, you'll know whose photos they are! *Fingers crossed* One day my pictures will return to the rightful owner!

HKH

The Sons of Ben for 4 years (I believe) have raised money and collected food through the event Help Kick Hunger (HKH). This fundraiser is to help raise money for the Bernadine Center in Chester, PA whose stated goal is “provide a helping hand to low-income Chester residents by distributing emergency or supplemental food and supplies. We also offer educational, spiritual and advocacy programs to help clients build better lives for themselves, their families and communities.” This year they are holding a Stache Bash to help raise money through the carnival they will be hosting at the home opener and through t-shirt sales of the best t-shirt ever! So excited to participate and this and I hope you all will too! For more information you can go to http://www.brotherlygame.com/2011/2/14/1992447/the-brotherly-game-and-the-sons-of-ben-introduce-the-stache-bash
I hope to see you all March 26 at the home opener. DOOP!

To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.

The Starbucks mission: to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.
Last night we had our store meeting where we are told what new things are going to be happening within the store the next few months. From the revamping of the logo to make it to be known for more than coffee, to the new sweets we're selling, the community service we are participating in, and the special coffee we will be serving. I loved how we have these meetings to become familiar with our products so when we talk about them, we really know what we're talking about (btw, the new lemon bar tastes like heaven). I feel honored that I'm a Starbucks barista and have a chance to work with the people I work with and to serve those in our community.
I really loved the ideas for the community service projects we're participating in. There's the canoe trip to clean up the river and the one I'm really excited about which is the Mommy's Light run/walk in Lionville.
This company definitely takes to heart their mission and I love that.
I know this post was a little crazy/everywhere/no point but I really wanted to share how great this company is and the things we will be doing the next couple weeks.
PSA: Starting 3/8 until supply lasts, Starbucks will be having a buy a drink and try a new sweet treat for free from 2-5 everyday. I definitely recommend the lemon bar, caramel macchiato bar, whoopie pie, and mini cupcakes. We are also selling the Tribute blend which are 4 coffees in one. If you like Kenya or Sumatra, you'll like Tribute. It's nutty, fruity, earthy. Bold and acidic. Definitely a fav with the baristas. Also coming out soon is the Kona coffee which is being sold a 1/2 pound but worth every penny. It's 100% Kona beans not the measly 30% that WAWA uses :)

The Greatest Month Ever!

Hello March. I have waited for you for so long. With you comes the first game of the Union, the Stache Bash, St. Patty's Day, the St. Patty's Parade, my haircut, Dropkick Murphy's concert, celebrating birthdays, the High Kings show, and First Friday. This is the month centered around drinking. What's wrong with that you ask? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So let the green beer flow and I can't wait to party with my friends and family!
